I had a good February. It was long. Bleak in some places. Far more good things happened to outweigh the bad, though. Lots of wondering. Some new thinking. All of it fresh in my mind as I look back at all I wrote.
I completed three of the four stories I promised this month. I just couldn’t get there on the third one I began. It’s a good idea, but the ending kept changing. I wish to reach it, it’s just a matter of picking up where I left off. But the other three are done. Certainly in need of some polish. A copy-edit or two. But there’s at least something there. Odd little scenelets to leave the readers wondering what else is next. Not sure when I’ll publish them. They involve a lot about enveloping and disappearing the ones who are in the wrong. Swallowing them whole. Strange, but that’s what I took away from the prompts I used. I hope I can get to the point where I finish all four. There’s some new inspiration on the horizon that may just be what I need to finally push me over the edge. So that’s another thing I’m glad to be pursuing.
I liked adding divisions in the writing about midway through the month, but none of it ever looked right to me. I couldn’t get the formatting to my liking, but sectioning out my thoughts was helpful. I also realized that not all the entries were privy to it, and to not stress about it if the format changes. I was rolling with it, like I was doing all month about everything. We’re barreling ahead on the news front, watching the public tribunals from every corner of the galaxy. Thankfully there was less anxiety about politics in these entries, unlike my December writing. So a lot of the times, things came out airier and more fun.
A lot of things started for me this month. I’m in the beginning stages of something that I feel as though I set in motion long ago. I’m just only now seeing the groundwork that was always there to begin with. And it’s because I made the decision to reach out. Though it’s something I’ve always had trouble with, I found the strength to do so throughout these twenty-nine days. I’m hoping next time a monthly challenge rolls around, I’ll use what I started here to write with more order, more structure, with something that solidified the shaky foundation I’ve built. I’ve been waxing poetic about it for ages, it’s time I actually see fulfillment. And it’s all thanks to quite the odd February.
Until next time.
